Course Programme

The full curriculum, module by module

Five video modules take you through the complete content conversion cycle, beginning with the secure handling of source material and concluding with the professional delivery of finished files to the client.

Receiving source material and confirming rights

Before any work begins you need to establish precisely what you are handling. This module covers secure file transfer from clients and the checks required to confirm licensing and copyright on both audio and written material.

On completion of this module you will be able to

  • Operate your own intake checklist for incoming material
  • Request the correct permissions from clients before starting
  • Apply the fundamentals of copyright within a publishing context
01

Transcription and content mapping

This module shows how transcription tools convert a recording into accurate text quickly, and how to map that text to isolate the themes, quotations and passages that merit development.

On completion of this module you will be able to

  • Run an efficient production workflow using transcription tools
  • Match the content of an episode to appropriate output formats
  • Rehearse the process on licensed sample recordings
02

Episode notes, summaries and derivative articles

This module forms the core of the programme. You learn to produce the three principal deliverable formats, namely episode notes, concise summaries and articles developed from the source recording, while remaining entirely faithful to the original.

On completion of this module you will be able to

  • Apply a proven structure for well written episode notes
  • Develop a consistent house format for episode summaries
  • Write derivative articles without introducing your own assumptions
03

Quality control and source attribution

Every quotation, link and external reference must be verified before a file reaches the client. This module establishes a systematic quality control routine that protects your reputation and your client alike.

On completion of this module you will be able to

  • Operate a quality control checklist on every commission
  • Verify quotations and attributions against the source
  • Recognise and avoid common content rights problems
04

Batch planning and delivery of finished work

A dependable repurposing service requires disciplined organisation as much as strong writing. The closing module covers planning work in structured batches and presenting finished content to the client for approval in a professional manner.

On completion of this module you will be able to

  • Operate a tracking system for commissions in progress
  • Structure content batches around a client publishing schedule
  • Define your scope of service, approval cycle and delivery steps
